The "Old" and "New" Statistical Accounts of Scotland are reports produced by parish ministers in the time periods of 1791-99 and 1834-45 respectively. The old accounts are not arranged in geographical order, but the new accounts are and the volumes covering the Tay Valley counties can also be viewed (and can be downloaded) at Archive.org:

Stirling Council Archives hold records from former parts of south-west Perthshire which now fall under Stirling Council
Royal Museums Greenwich include the National Maritime Museum, the Royal Observatory Greenwich, the Queen's House and the Cutty Sark.
The National Maritime Museum has a Maritime Memorials database containing records of over 5000 church, cemetery and public memorials to seafarers and victims of maritime disasters. At present, the search system on the Memorial site is disabled. The Curator of Antiquities at Royal Museums Greenwich suggests running a search on Google in the meantime. To search for memorials in Arbroath, for example, type arbroath site:memorials.rmg.co.uk in the Google search box. Replace arbroath by any other place or person's name you want to look for.

The Military Badges Web Site. If you have a photograph of a person in uniform, this site may help you to find the unit to which they belonged.
Just Medals This is a shop, but has full size images of many UK medals.

Auckland War Memorial Museum Cenotaph Database was started primarily as a roll of honour of those who died as a result of war service. Now it includes many personnel who have died since war service. Almost all of those who served in WW1 are included.
US military records can be found on subscription sites Ancestry.com, findmypast.com, familyrelatives.com and Fold3.
